“Dear Lindy,
My boyfriend Heino asked me to marry him about two months ago. He is such a caring, wonderful person – the best I could imagine. And I would say he is way more romantic than me. He secretly would love to have an engagement photo shooting. :) As we are only getting married in August 2015 we still have time enough. Yesterday he brought up the topic of such shooting again and I thought it would be great surprise for him. We are from Germany. My older brother Michael is from Cape Town. He will get married December 12th this year. So we will be around. Heino and I have been to South Africa before in 2012 and did a great road trip from PE all the way to Cape Town where I had to attend a conference. Heino loved the Chapmans Peak drive! The scenery is so stunning and when I saw Nicolas’ and Aneldas Engagement shoot it reminded me of the great time we had. And not only that, on December 10th it will be his 30th birthday and so I thought it would be a great birthday surprise. I browsed several photographers around Cape Town. I instantly liked the way you try to catch the couples and the light and it seems so very naturally – not as artificial like some others… and to best: it’s not a model shoot – all that matters is the happiness between the couples :) Would it be possible that you would have time for us? Heino plans to have dinner at Moyo at Spiers that day. But during the day we will have plenty of time. Also the 11th would be another option. I am best to contact via e-mail. Happy to hear from you soon.
Greetings from Northeastern Germany!
Nele “
When I received this email last year, I just started to smile. I knew instantly that I had to make a plan to fit Nele and Heino into my shooting calendar, because from what I could tell they were both such lovely people who really treasured one another! So after months of sending emails to and fro, the day finally arrived where we got to meet! And boy, oh boy, what wonderful people these are! Gentle, caring and fun- these two were a blast to have in front of my camera.
And as is typical of Chapman’s Peak- we wouldn’t get away with not having some strong winds on the shoot! So we started off at the Hout Bay harbour, hoping to avoid the worst of it, and then later went up to Chapmans Peak drive to continue the shoot there. Our gamble paid off, and because the wind had died down a bit we weren’t blown off of the cliffs! :)
Heino and Nele, thank you so much for meeting up for the shoot. I had so much fun with you two and wish you only the best for your wedding day, and your marriage thereafter! :) May 2015 be a fantastic year for you filled with so much love, peace and God’s richest blessings!
Much love xxx
Thanks too to Dale, my wonderful friend and assistant on the day! :)
