When I got to Switzerland on the Friday- it was the most beautiful day anyone could ask for. The picture perfect weather had us all ridiculously excited for Saturday’s wedding. The conditions were looking promising. However…
The next morning it poured with rain. Not like it drizzled a little. I mean, it POURED…like torrential-downpour-cloud-
Normally I can be quite optimistic about the rain, and can find some ways of reassuring my brides that it will be okay and that the rain is not so bad. But there was a point where the rain came down so hard we could not see further than a few metres ahead of us, and I just sat there a bit dumbstruck. There was nothing that I could say to Candice or Lorenzo to make things better. The downpour was a bit of a dampener (excuse the pun) on all of our moods.
Thankfully though, the rain would come and go, and we were able to slip out a few minutes at a time during the food courses to get some pics when it wasn’t raining. It even cleared enough later on in the afternoon so that we could go on a boat ride on the lake that Lorenzo and Candice had organised for all their guests. As Murphy’s Law would have it- the next day was the most beautiful sunshiny day- with not a single cloud in the sky! :)
Lorenzo grew up in Ticino, which is the Italian speaking canton of Switzerland. Though he moved to South Africa a few years back already, he still has a lot of family in Switzerland and many special memories that were made there. Thus they had to find a way to celebrate their union with friends and family there too. Their wedding ceremony was held in the same cathedral that his mother and father got married in so many years ago. And this church is exquisitely beautiful- my word! We then headed to a quaint little hotel that they had booked out for the reception, which is along Lake Lugano.
Ah man- there were so many amazing parts to this day- that if I were to tell you them all you’d be reading for days and not looking at the pictures! :) So let me rather quit writing and rather let the pictures do the talking!
Lorenzo and Candice- thank you!!! Thanks for the most memorable time. Gosh- you guys are just absolutely amazing and it was so nice have your gorgeous folk in front of my camera again. Praying God’s richest blessings over your marriage. May you continue to cherish your family and friends like you already do- and may your love for one another grow stronger and stronger each day! Love you guys xxx
