When I asked Renier how he proposed to Janneke- he shyly said that he wasn’t the most thoughtful and romantic guy out there. They had met at various social occasions during their years at university and Renier was the first of the two to lose his heart. He knew early on already that this was the woman of his dreams- and he was going to marry her one day. Janneke took a little longer to come around- but when she did, she was smitten too. When they officially started dating, Renier made a little cement mould and carved their name into the wet cement along with a cross, in order to commemorate their decision. He then gave it to her as a memento to keep.
A year or so later, once he had asked Janneke’s parents for her hand in marriage, he had to go and search around in her house for that little cement mould. You see, the cement mould held it’s own surprise that Janneke knew nothing of. The day he proposed Renier gave her a hammer and told her to smash the small grey block. A little bit confused, she took the hammer and smacked away until the cement block crumbled and revealed a note that Renier had placed inside when he made it a year back. Opening it up, it read: “Janneke, sal jy met my trou?”
Now I don’t know about you, but I think Renier is a lot more thoughtful and romantic than he thinks! :)
These two gorgeous love birds got married on Janneke’s parents farm in Franschhoek, and my goodness- what a glorious day it turned out being! Beautiful views, lovely people and the most wonderful golden glow for photo’s = one very happy photographer!
Die volgende is my gebed vir julle:
“May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19
Baie blessings en liefde xxx
Dankie ook aan Lee, my wonderlike assistent vir die dag- jy is awesome!
