I’ve known Leandri now for about 5-6 years, and I have always thought she is one of the most beautiful and joyful ladies around. Facebook kinda kept us in contact, and from her posts and photo’s that would appear on my wall, I could see she was madly in love with the man of her dreams! So when she contacted me asking about my availability to shoot their wedding on the 22nd of July, I got so excited! Because I knew spending the day with these two phenomenal human beings was going to be an absolute blast of a time. And I wasn’t wrong! :)

The number 22 is a very significant number for this couple. The 22nd of September is Leandri’s birthday and since her 22nd birthday, she has had an ice-cream date on the 22nd of every month since then. It became her thing! After graduating as a physio she was placed in Potchefstroom and there met Janesh- a good looking doctor who happened to be working at the same hospital she was interning at.  They were just friends (and triathlon training buddies) for a long time but on a trip to Iceland with a bunch of friends, romantic feelings started to develop between the two. Their first “coffee date” together was on the 22nd of Jan 2015, (over some ice-cream of course)! And since then have been enjoying ice-cream dates on the 22nd of each month…it’s now become “their thing”! When it came down to choosing the date for the wedding- there were only really two options for this fun loving couple… April and July. Because these were the only two months this year that had the 22nd on a Saturday. However April felt a bit too soon to arrange a whole wedding, and a the idea of a winter wedding in July appealed to Leandri because she is a “winterskind” and absolutely adores the winter.

So Janesh and Leandri got married at Bloekomsrus near Riebeek Kasteel on the 22nd of July surrounded by their closest friends and family, and 22 different flavours of ice cream!

To Janesh and Leandri- what a privilege bearing witness to the love and strong friendship between you! May your marriage be a blessed one in which you experience so much divine joy, peace, and love. My prayer for you is Ephesians 3:17-19, “May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
