Mark and I went to school together, and who would have known back when we matriculated, that we’d see one another 12 years later when I’d be photographing his wedding in Zambia?! And what an impressive farm wedding it was! Mark and Jess poured a heck of a lot of effort into the day and managed to transform an empty piece of land into the most epic venue. (Having my own wedding a week after theirs (and also on a farm) – I can safely say I know what goes into a farm wedding… and these people worked HARD!) My goodness! Roads were graded and covered in a molasses mixture to stop the excessive dust from the traffic that would fly up when the over 200 odd guests would arrive. They trucked in tons of round bails to act as a wind barrier for the outdoor venue which would be covered in fairy lights, and they even built a campsite with fully functioning toilets, electricity and hot water showers for their guests who would be staying over. Food, drinks, transport, accommodation, electricity…Mark and Jess arranged everything!
It’s a two and a half hour journey from Lusaka airport to Mazabuka on a harrowing road filled with the biggest potholes I had ever seen. But once we arrived on the farm and saw it’s beautiful scenery, we could (almost) forget the treacherous ride we just had on the national road. Meeting Mark and Jess’s friends and family made me feel right at home and seeing all my old classmates definitely made the journey extra special.
Mark and Jess- thank you for inviting me to come shoot your wedding! It was so wonderful capturing all the special moments on camera and catching up with you again. You guys are so beautiful together and made my job of getting pretty pictures so easy. Thanks for that ;)
May your marriage be such a blessed one in which you keep falling more and more in love with one another every day! My prayer for you comes from 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13; “May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints”.
Lots of love xxx
Thanks to Talitha for assisting me on the weekend- you were an absolute star! :)
