Gosh, what a special family this is, and what a big place in my heart they occupy. I photographed Stevon and Sarah’s wedding in 2018 and soon after heard that they were expecting a beautiful little baby girl. I was set to photograph the birth, but then the terrible news came through. At 37 weeks, Baby Harper had stopped moving in her belly and the worst was confirmed. My heart broke for Stevon and Sarah. The loss of any loved one is terrible- but they say that when a parent loses a child, it’s a pain that can’t be matched. Never in one’s mind do you go to hospital for labour, and not expect to come back home with your baby in your arms. The shock, the pain, the grief- I can’t even begin to imagine what they must have gone through.
Then in July last year, Sarah messaged to say that they were expecting again. Tears flooded my eyes and my heart rejoiced! Thank you Lord for your grace and for this new little life!
But it was by no means an easy journey emotionally and spiritually for them. When so much has transpired, it’s hard not to let those fears have an effect on your hopes and excitement for this new little one. Baby Grace was born at 37 weeks via a C-Section, and brought home in the blanket that Sarah had lovingly knitted for her older sister who is watching down from heaven.
Sarah and Stevon- thank you for the immensely special privilege of being able to do this shoot for you. Grace is just beautiful and she is so blessed to have such wonderful parents as yourselves. My prayer for you as a family comes from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17, “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”
Sending you all so much love xxx
