Tayla and Hugh’s wedding was first set to take place on the 21st March 2020, but due to the national Corona lockdown and travel restrictions they had to make the terribly tough call to postpone the wedding 5 days before it was to take place. They were so close but yet so far! Dates were changed numerous times as the lockdown restrictions changed and eventually the 19th of December 2020 was settled upon. I am so grateful on their behalf that they were able to have it when they did because 10 days later the December Lockdown level 3 happened and no weddings were allowed to take place. Planning and organising 2 farm weddings in 1 year is no joke- and I take my hat off to Hugh and Tayla and their families for taking it all in their stride!
The wedding took place on Oakleaf, Tayla’s family farm in the scenic Alexandria district, and whilst location scouting we found the most beautiful spot that I was planning to use at sunset for their couple shoot. From that point you could see the rolling hills of their dairy farm, and also the gorgeous dunes and seascape of the Indian ocean which would have made the perfect backdrop at sunset. We had just finished with the bridal party shots in the late afternoon sun, and were making our way to the car to drive to the epic spot. Then we saw it. The grey mist which had come in from the ocean and was looming over everything so thick you could barely see clearly 50 m in front of you. No more views from the epic spot, no more golden hour sun, no more seeing where we actually were. It’s like we had magically been transported to Ireland! What to do now? Thankfully a field of heifers were only to keen to play along for the photo’s, and so we waded in there- being careful to miss the cow pats with Tayla’s beautiful white dress! It was amazing to see how the mist changed the look and feel of the landscape and the photo’s- but made it beautiful in it’s own way too.
To Hugh, Tayla, and the wonderful Biggs and Savage families- what a joy and a privilege to see you all again, and to have been part of this wonderful wedding! All the hard work and careful planning finally paid off (after who knows how many spanners were thrown in the works) and it truly was such a magical day! Well done for your perseverance and patience!
May your marriage, like your wedding day, be filled with so much laughter, beauty, love and joy! And may you fall more and more in love with one another as each day passes. My prayer for you comes from 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 – “May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.”
Sending you all so much love xxx
Thanks to the lovely Renette who not only helped assist on the day but also reminded me to go to the loo and to drink lots of water when my preggy brain forgot!
