This wedding will go down as the coldest one I have ever shot. My word- that wind came from somewhere off of the arctic circle I swear! It blew unrelentingly throughout the day and well into the night too. There were times during the reception that I was shaking so much from the cold- that I honestly thought all of the photo’s were going to be blurred. I felt so sorry for Ida and Aldo- who had planned a wonderful summers evening celebration under the stars late into the night- but instead they got the chilliest night of the year that drove everyone indoors rather quickly. Thankfully though- the people’s warm hearts made up for silly cold! Ida and Aldo are the sweetest, warmest and most welcoming folk and it was such a pleasure working with them throughout the day.

Almost everything about this wedding was DIY. Ida did her own hair and make up, all the decor and designs, her own bouquet and even made the food herself. She was up until 3am the night before making salads for the side dishes. She was going to make the cake too but then time decided otherwise, and so she had to call on a good friend to help out. Aldo built the tables and crates and together they made their own rings. Like seriously- they took a course in how to mould your own wedding rings. How cool?! Needless to say, they deserved a good holiday after planning their wedding! :)

Aldo en Ida- Julle is legends! Dankie dat julle bereid was om die koue aan te durf vir mooi foto’s en dat julle heeltyd gedurende die dag geglimlag het. Dit was vir my so mooi om te sien hoe julle mekaar lief het, mekaar geniet en genuinely gelukkig is saam. Mag dit altyd soos wees! Ek vertrou dat die Here jul liefde en vriendskap gaan laat groei en versterk met elke dag wat verby gaan. Mag julle huwelik ‘n baie geseënde en gelukkige ene wees gevul met soveel vreugde en vrede! blessings xxx
